Genndy Tartakovsky's "Primal" made with TVPaint

Post by D.T. Nethery »

It was interesting to read this interview with Genndy Tartakovsky and Scott Wills from Annecy (the interview is in French, but non-French speakers can paste the URL into Google Chrome and it will offer to translate the page for you) -

Oh, I remember Tartakovsky's name from the old Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon from 2003.
I'll definitely take a look at this!

Ive never worked with Moho. Ive heard good stories about it but it never made me want to try it out. Do you like it ?
I don't understand your reference to Moho. The topic is the use of TVPaint on production of the show 'Primal'.
Are you saying that they also used Moho ? I suppose that's possible , but no one mentioned Moho in this topic.

Another article about Genndy Tartakovsky's 'Primal' , which mentions that TVPaint is used for the animation.

https://www.indiewire.com/influencers/p ... rtakovsky/

This part was interesting:
"The latest digital tech enabled Tartakovsky to be totally hands-on in the process, which was different from “Samurai Jack.” Instead of being limited to making notes, he personally changed the drawings in the TVPaint software file and sent them back to the animation studio.[Studio La Cachette]

'I’m still an animator at heart, so I get to rough in some fight animation here and there,' he added."

Also these articles about Samurai Jack Season 5 , which mention that it was made using TVPaint, which I was not aware of until recently.
(although Elodie had posted one of these articles back in 2017, which I must have overlooked.)

As I understand it , the same animation pipeline with TVPaint is used for Genndy Tartakovsky’s upcoming series 'Unicorn: Warriors Eternal' , animation production done at Studio La Cachette, who also animated 'Primal' .
