extra color groups

Post by Peter Wassink »

In our current production we make use of the color groups for export to compositing.
we assign different types of layers, and each type has its own color group.
for instance :
rotoline
color
shading
castshadow
highlight
blushes

the other groups are used for project organizing purposes.

we are now in the second season and would like to add some more layer types... but we are running out of Groups!
so the request is:can we have extra color groups!
aprox. double the number? to 24 groups

i am aware there is a limit to the number of colors that can be usefully distinguished,
and with too many groups the colors will have to become more similar and you introduce the risk of confusing groups
therefore i'm not asking for more then doubling the current number of 13

you can already change the names of the groups , to something else than the names of the colors.

Wow! yes very nice! :D

Could you make it that the color settings can be set globally?
Perhaps as a setting in the preferences?

because now every project has its own colorgroups presets.
So if you create a colorgroup[setting for a certain project you would have to load it in for every shot or else it resets to the default.

i can export a color group setting... with names and colors. (see image)
but even if i save as defaultgroups...

when loading a project with another group, i still have to manually load in the customgroup.
and with a series production this is not viable.

I'll have a look, but that'd be in the future release not the one to come.
