Adobe Voco: The digital solution to voice actors?

Post by VGmaster9 »

This looks like a very interesting piece of software. It basically takes samples of people's voices and lets you make your own speeches with their voice. However, you need a 20 minute long sample to be able to use their voice. This could be a great alternative to real voice actors if it's really perfected, all it needs to do is let you edit tone, speed, and emotion. It should also be compatible with major DAWs and NLEs.

I don't think it could replace a voice actor soon. It can reproduce how someone speaks, but not how he acts. By the way the video you embedded is two years old and it seems there aren't any news on Voco ( https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2443579 )

I see. Still though, it would be nice to have a program that can not just be used as a substitute for live voice actors, but also be very efficient at it. It doesn't have to replace voice actors entirely, it can just be a tool used for people who either can't afford to hire voice actors or just use the voices of famous actors and characters. For example, let's say someone wanted to make an MLP fan animation that has both original characters and characters from the show. While human voice actors can be used for the OCs, such a software could be used for the voices of the show's official characters. In order to make the voices sound authentic, you'd have to make sure that nothing feels artificial or robotic.
