Re: EBsynth a powerfull texturising (rotoscope)tool
When you asked about it , was that on a live stream or chat about the making-of Lackadaisy ? Is that available to view anywhere? In the Youtube comments, under the same name of mine as here. Yes, even if everything ends up being colored in one program (such as Harmony) and final compositing in Afte...

Re: EBsynth a powerfull texturising (rotoscope)tool
I noticed EBSynth was listed in the credits as one of the softwares they used. That's interesting to know how they used it. Screen Shot 2023-03-30 at 3.35.33 AM.png It seems that some of the animators used Clip Studio Paint to animate , although most used Toonboom Harmony. I was interested to see t...

Re: EBsynth a powerfull texturising (rotoscope)tool
I watched the Lackadaisy animation today and found that Ebsynth was used for the production of this short. I asked what it was used for and this was their response. Fable: Ebsynth helped with applying painting filters we created on to 3d animation. Clip Studio is for anything art. It appears that th...

Re: Thoughts on this method of cleaning up?
It becomes more difficult to argue for why using TVPaint is better. From my understanding, it may be better not because of the software itself, but because of the animators who use it. Harmony animators mainly use its vector drawing capabilities for animating, while most animators who draw in bitma...

Disney to go back to their 2d roots?
If they're really going through with this, I'm psyched. Hopefully they'll start doing more hybrid animation combining 2d and 3d effectively. Would love to see something like Treasure Planet with modern technology.

Thoughts on this method of cleaning up?
https://docs.toonboom.com/help/harmony-14/premium/import/vectorize-image-import.html What you can apparently do is after animating in a bitmap program like TVPaint, then cleaning the roughs, you can export the frames to Toon Boom Harmony for vectorization, and go from there. Do you think that's an e...

How can this technique be done in animation?
https://youtu.be/KpTgZvAzWdo
What it's basically doing is taking a screenshot of digital animation and making it look as if it was a traditionally painted cel. Is something like this possible for works of animation, whether it's done in Flash, Toon Boom, or Opentoonz?

Re: Pixar's 'Burrow' made with TVPaint
Just watched this. It's very refreshing to see Pixar dabble into 2d animation. I'd totally love to see them make a full length film that 100% hand drawn/painted, and not having any CG elements that modern 2d films use. I know it'd be a very challenging task, but it'd still be easier doing it all di...

Re: EBsynth a powerfull texturising (rotoscope)tool
I agree with you, Peter. The original scenes look better. Just throwing a bunch of random tones and highlights on top of it doesn't make it look better. It's like an art student who first discovers airbrush , suddenly all their art has airbrush over-applied , with no good taste or discretion used (...

Re: EBsynth a powerfull texturising (rotoscope)tool
I see much potential in this software for 2d animation. It's very similar to the tool used for texturing in the film Klaus. This could be used with not just TVPaint, but also Flash, Toon Boom, Opentoonz, etc. Here's an example of it being used for classic animations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...
