The Animator's Survival Kit
If you have an iPad, you might be interested to know that Richard Williams just released a new, interactive version of his classic book designed specifically for the iPad. I've got his book but, since animation is motion it's nice to be able to see all the animated concepts in action. You can view t...

Re: Improved UI , Nodebased Workflow , Unlimited Canvas etc.
3. the drawing view as it is now is too limited. I should have the option to draw outside of the view ,because sometimes, especially for close ups and zoom outs and other views where you don't see your whole character,I sometimes have to guess where the rest and the volumes of my characters would be...

Re: papers into tvp from mirage in OSX
Hi Charlie, Go into your applications folder and right-click (control-click) on TVPaint and select "Show Package Contents" in the pop-up menu. Double-click the Contents folder, then the Resources folder and you'll find your Papers folder. Simply drag & drop (or copy) your Mirage papers...

Re: Rotating the workspace.
I rotate my canvas by pressing on Control+alt, although I'm not sure if that's a default shortcut or one that I set myself. When I release, I get back to my drawing tool. I couldn't find a default reset key so I assigned Shift+C, which I think may be similar to ToonBoom.

Re: SCALE UNPROPORTIONALLY AGAIN
David,
Have you tried the cut brush custom panel in this thread? You'll find the newest version with an unproportional scaling option way down towards the bottom of the thread.

Re: Drawing on a Mac
ArtRage is a really nice drawing and painting application and it's very inexpensive. It does not have animation capabilities however. They also offer a free starter edition. This along with The Gimp would really get him started.

Re: PROBLEM WITH CUT BRUSH IN TVP9 ON A MAC
David, Please check your Preferences/Display/Tool Display and make sure the "Hide Tools Preview" is not checked. I dealt with this issue in previous versions of Mirage & TVP until I figured this out. It's possible that the default setting enables the Hide Tools Preview and when you ins...

Re: Intel Mac Issues With TVP 8.6
Eric and Fabrice, Thank you both for responding. I appreciate it. I am running OSX 10.4.11. (All my specs are at the end of my original post.) With TVPv.8.6 I would at least be able to launch the program, but the drop-down menus displayed nothing, shortcut keys did not work, and in general the progr...

Re: Intel Mac Issues With TVP 8.6
Okay, I'm going to try again. As stated previously, TVP v.8.6 launches but is completely unusable and unresponsive on my Intel iMac. Now I've downloaded the 8.6.1 update and that's even worse. It simply crashes when I try to launch it. I've gone back to v. 8.5.10, which works fine, but it really con...

Re: Tutorials
Regarding the playback speed of the tutorials, I agree . . . they zip right along. Have you tried setting the playback in Quicktime to half speed? It makes them a lot easier to watch and you can save the setting. I have Quicktime Pro so I'm not 100% sure that you can do this in standard QT.

Re: Mirage Tutorials do not open!
Hi Glenda,
I downloaded and attempted to decompress a tutorial and discovered that, while they do seem to be Quicktime files, they are compressed with 7zip, which is a Windows application. In other words, it would seem that Mac users are unable to decompress the 7zip files.
