Re: Non-destructive mask over a layer
There are a lot of helpful techniques being described here. I am looking into the Spare Buffer option that was proposed. Having a half-transparent background can cause trouble. But you can easily create an opaque overlay like this: - duplicate transparent layer - create a layer under it - fill it co...

Re: Non-destructive mask over a layer
Thank you for the response. I'm not sure why the background not being at full opacity would have any effect on the bush overlay ? The bush may have been a poor example. A better example is if the character is standing on grass and I want to have some of the grass be in front of the character. If the...

Non-destructive mask over a layer
Hello, I'm trying to see if there is a way to mask or otherwise obscure part of a layer, such as a character, without outright erasing any part of that layer. An example of this would be when I want to have part of a background be in front of a character, such as a bush. The only way I know how to d...

Re: How to properly update TVPaint on MacOS
These suggestions are very helpful! Though I still do wonder if there is any way to propagate my preferences and settings to the newer versions of the software. When I upgraded to Monterey from Big Sur, I was no longer able to launch TVPaint, hence my inquiry on how to properly update the software. ...

How to properly update TVPaint on MacOS
Hi, I am trying to update TVPaint Animation 11.5 Pro on my Mac running MacOS Monterey, and I would like to know the proper procedure for updating the software. I have been directed to update because my version of TVPaint no longer works now that I have upgraded to Monterey. However, since downloadin...

Re: macOS Monterey and TVPaint Animation 11 [UPDATE 17/06/2022]
Hi Thierry,
I just installed the CodeMeter software that you linked but TVPaint still will not launch. Just to be sure I also ran the CM uninstaller first and then reinstalled it.

TVPaint not launching on MacOS Monterey 12.4
Hello, I just updated my MacBook from MacOS Big Sur to Monterey 12.4, and TVPaint Animation 11.5 Pro no longer seems to launch. When I click on a TVPaint project or on the application itself, the icon bounces up and down on my dock but no windows end up opening, at which point I can do nothing else ...

Apply a mask to existing pixels
I'm trying to hide part of a character's body, without actually just erasing part of that character. I would like to know if I can use a new mask to hide pixels on a layer where there are already pixels drawn. I understand the basics of how to use a mask: I can draw on one layer (layer 1), activate ...

Audio gets cut off during playback
Hello, I am asking about an issue that I have been having for months. When I load an audio file into a clip and I hit play, the audio plays with the clip for a few seconds before it just goes silent, while the clip keeps playing. It is inconsistent in terms of where in the clip the audio stops. If I...

Transforming CTG layers
Hello, I'm working on creating a character sheet and I am drawing characters on one layer and coloring them with a CTG layer. Because it's a character sheet there is no animation, just one frame per layer. Occasionally I want to move these colored-in characters to position them better on the sheet, ...

Difficulty with the KeyFramer effect
Hi, I am trying to apply an effect to my animation that I thought would be pretty straightforward. I'm trying to make one of my layers move "closer" to the camera by adjusting the Z-axis in the KeyFramer effect. Here is a screenshot of my interface: Screen Shot 2021-10-21 at 1.37.56 PM.png...

Re: Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 vs Pro 24 for TVPaint
Thank you guys for the replies! Wacom makes you pay $500 extra for the stand ?!! The Cintiq Pro 24 only includes the two little pop-out legs on the upper backside of the tablet. I don't think those would be sufficient for me. If you want anything more, then yes, Wacom does make you pay either $500 f...

Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 vs Pro 24 for TVPaint
Hello. I recently got TVPaint because I want to work on traditional animation both as a hobby and professionally if I can. I am interested in getting a pen display for using the software. I am receiving the tablet as a graduation gift, and so I am interested in choosing between the Wacom Cintiq Pro ...
