Re: I'd like to try again
Man, so much to go off of here. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. A few thoughts: My order of priorities, at least in my mind or until I talk with v.veidt, is to learn to draw the human figure, then practice gestures, then practice nuanced movement as Paul suggested. The end goal for me is actual...

Re: I'd like to try again
Whew, this last week was super busy at work. Been doing nightly human figure lessons online, sharpening my skillset there. V.Veidt I sent cha a skype friend request as well as my name in a PM, hopefully you got that. Looking forward to talking with you.

Re: I'd like to try again
I feel lucky to have your ear, and I would love to set up something on Skype with you for a future day or lesson. I understand your limitations on time as well, so take as long as you need to respond to me or my questions. Could you go into detail about exposure rate? I can't quite wrap my head arou...

Re: I'd like to try again
Thanks for your effort man. Going down the list: First and foremost, slow down. I noticed immediately that your original video was shot on 1s. My (though incomplete) gesture version is timed on 2-4. That means you did 2-4 times as much work as you needed to accomplish the same goal. What is 1s, 2s, ...

Re: I'd like to try again
Thank you Drago (may I call you that?), that is the kind of critiques I'm looking for. Your comments are interesting to me, I've never thought of my methods before, but looking at them, yes, I do draw outlines. It's just the way I taught myself. I'm certain practicing the human form will help me bre...

Re: I'd like to try again
None of my examples are traced, no. All of these drawings were done in Corel Painter Sketch Pad on my Cintiq 21UX. The animation was drawn manually in TVPaint. I understand the need to be completely honest here with you, and I have been. I just like anime and I've failed many a class growing up beca...

Re: I'd like to try again
Just to add to the discussion, our very own "lame lemec" posted some videos today on getting into the art industry: http://youtu.be/pFf8Du7dQLs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Oh, man. I'm loving these videos. This guy is really inspiration and shares my loathing ...

Re: I'd like to try again
Okay, looking through my computer I did find a decent cache of things I've done recently: Sketches for friends and laughs: http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/8673/simontestpage1.png http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/9595/acserver.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/6227/vnpiratepage1.png http://im...

Re: I'd like to try again
The human figure is my biggest hole. I've never taken anatomy courses or any official art courses, so I understand I'll need to hit that hard. I'm devoting at least an hour a day to studying, tracing, copying, and watching the human figure to get started. If you hold on for an hour I'll sketch up a ...

Re: I'd like to try again
Firstly, thank you Mr Veidt. I won't be pitching any time soon. My goal at the moment is to be in the industry at any level that will help me further my goal of an eventual production. I certainly won't jump the gun on a proposal without earning my dues first. Right now between these forums and the ...

Re: I'd like to try again
There is no choice there: Making my own show. It's all about getting the message out there. Yes, I would love to sustain myself on it, but that's as far as my monetary aspirations go. I'm not looking for any big paychecks. I prefer a great story and a legacy. I'm not intimidated by the odds. I under...

I'd like to try again
I realize now I've been asking the wrong questions, so I wanted to start over. I'm not exactly sure where I want to go professionally. My goal is to have a story produced into a television series, and to have a personal hand in the stylistic and animated properties of it, with a team of animators an...

Re: Contets of an animation portfolio
My goal is to get to whatever position I need in order to produce a story I have. I'm not sure if that means running a studio which I'm prepared to work toward, or another position within it.
