It sounds like you might be hitting a shortcut key to toggle the interface-inlay view. I cannot remember the default shortcut key for this but you can find out what it is by viewing your shortcuts and searching for inlay view.

It would be very helpful to have the ability to tag TVPP files with some metadata in order to easily sort and filter files by keywords. It would make for nice file management when making a short film with hundreds of scenes.

Assign your space bar to Tools:Right Mouse Button in the Keyboard Shortcuts.

That should have you erasing like you did in older versions.
