Re: Happy New Year 2009 !
Happy New Year Gang! I wanted to drop a note to tell you I’m abandoning my aspirations to become an animator and have instead decided to finish my second book. There comes a time when one must accept their limitations as well as their strengths. As much as I love animation with a great passion, I am...

Re: former student's animation
I work for a non-union medical manufacturer so there is no cap placed on the hours demanded of me, aside from the protection afforded by the Americans with Disabilities Act as I have diabetes, but that does little to stem the grueling tide. On the up -side I make a lot of money in overtime, on the d...

Re: former student's animation
"This is proof that anyone with talent and the desire to succeed can become an animator while working hard every day of the week doing boring work." That's a broad and sweeping generalization. Paul, as the French would say - Vous êtes plein de la merde ! I work 70 hours a week as a robotic...

Re: Ralph Bakshi on animation (from Comic Con 2008)
I think Joanna Quinn has done some nice story telling with older, "full-figured" gals as the subjects.

Re: Upgrade to 9 from new 8.5 purchase
Nothing to show you just yet. I am still working on my rabbit and using it as a base model to define how I want my colors to look, ect. I'm definitely leaning toward a more painterly 'Beatrix Potter' look but need to constantly curb my need to "decorate" everything with too much detail. Da...

Re: Upgrade to 9 from new 8.5 purchase
Yes - I'm happy with 8.6 and certainly have a lot to explore as it is, so I'm fine with not upgrading.

Re: Upgrade to 9 from new 8.5 purchase
Thanks Paul ... since I got mine in May it looks like I may not be eligible for the freebie. Sheesh! I should have waited another month to buy it! HA!

Upgrade to 9 from new 8.5 purchase
This may be a stupid question - but is TVP offering any upgrade discounts for people who just (May 13th) bought version 8.5?

Re: Show us your workspace!
Cathy Speaking of home spaces...how are you doing with the smoke from the Big Sur fires? We lost an entire week being smoke bound...no hiking was the worst. Lucky it happened in a week when we probably wouldn't have been able to do much anyway due to Norman's eye surgery. But we got out today for t...

Re: Show us your workspace!
Hisko!! Love that skeleton! I'd like one for my living room - I bet it would be a fun addition! Sierra - Yes, Oscar is a cat - a very curious Siamese who puts everything in his mouth, including my fingers and toes! YEEEOUCH! And yes I have a lot of greenery around my duplex - a orange tree, a Japane...

Re: Show us your workspace!
WOW! Lots of mirrors and monitors! I feel like such a peasant having only one monitor! HA! I like that you have a plant in your workspace. I used to have plants in mine as well until I got the newest addition to my family, Oscar, he's a plant chewer so all the plants had to go. Cool workspace Sierra...

I throughly enjoyed that one and could certainly relate to the theme. I liked how he used all different sorts of animation in it.
