Re: TVP v9 preorder
My code just arrived as well. Funny thing is that I have to advise another filmmaker how to set up a project not in TVP, but in ToonBoom Harmony which is not the best choice for the intended style. It would be so easy to do in TVP, but it will be quite complicated in ToonBoom, mostly because of the ...

Re: TVP to DCP, anyone?
Tantalus: Good news! I figured it couldn't be such a big deal to incorporate this. (BTW Photoshop sneaked this in over the last versions. They also changed their airbrush to the same effect. This is kind of a full circle: the drawing tools in v4 acted very "painterly", then from v5 on in w...

Re: TVP to DCP, anyone?
Just did a little test. The first image is a 10% reduction of an 1920 x 1080 image with a very flat gradient (#3366ff to #3399ff) from top left to bottom right. I did it once in Photoshop CS3 and once in TVP, using the exact same colours. sky1.png The second image is an enlargement of a detail, show...

Re: TVP to DCP, anyone?
You will not have any problem with an area which is of one uniform colour. Problems could only occur with very flat gradients, that is, something like from dark blue to a bit not so dark blue, but over the entire width of frame. I've also noticed (in doing print jobs) that a not-quite-so-accurate re...

Re: TVP to DCP, anyone?
767: I'd figured out that much as well. The least result I expect would be that the 8bit/channel images I can render (in TVP or else) are converted the best possile way into that other color space. From my experience with printing etc I don't expect much problems in image quality within the style of...

TVP to DCP, anyone?
I wonder if anybody already has experience in creating a DigitalCinema Package (DCP) from a TVP project. I'm researching about digital cinema recently, especially to collect knowledge about what to do, where to search, and how much to pay. Right now I'm delving in technicval specs a lot. In a docume...

Re: Coloring on seperate layers
It is a good idea to first make a sketch of what it looks like and how it should look like in the end.

Re: Final Cut
Ah, but trying to render with the H.264 codec results in only one frame, or an empty file! (Mac OS 10.4) Rendering from TVP doesn't work with this codec, I assume because the codec re-arranges some frames, and this doesn't work if future frames aren't rendered yet. Rendering H.264 from video sources...

Multiplane camera wizard
First: the multiplane tool is great. The concept was familiar to me since AnimeStudio uses the same approach, more or less. And the "wizard" is nice. Slick piece of software. However, I'm curious about how others create this effect. What I do is this: First I draw all the layers I need, an...

Re: Point of view of a Cyborg - animation
Write some text in a font you find appropriate. Render this text (in Photoshop) and export it with transparent background. Import into TVP and reveal it line by line or however you like. (Usually this is done backwards: duplicate the frame, erase some stuff, duplicate that frame, and so on. Reverse ...

Re: TVP 9.0 -- a curious non-sighting
I got the email newsletter today, with all the prices. Now there's a funny twist: people who bought TVP after June 1st get the upgrade for free. Well, the offer for us Mirage orphans ended on May 31rd ... so I paid 454 € already, only to pay another 325 € three weeks later for the upgrade. (No, the ...

Re: Import .flv
No, I switched completely - getting used to exposures is my task right now (I like them).
If I try to import .mpg files, I just get the first frame, the poster image. .mov files are fine. (Mac)
