WinXP PRO SP2 I also use Adobe Acrobat Professional v7.1.0 Apparently it's not working for at least 3 people (me, Cathy and Paul). So there is some combination of software that is making it ...

Re: Can not access Help files from program
This all is rather odd. Two more things to check - is the .pdf extension associated with Acrobat 7.0? Also, I'm using Acrobat 7.0.6 located in the Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat 7.0/Reader subfolder (filename AcroRd32.exe) As a test I deleted the .pdf association, after which TVP couldn't bring up the...

Re: Python scripting
I use Modo and it uses Perl as scripting engine.... it also will use Lua I belive... there are TONS of available Perl scripts out there, all FREE Perl and Python are both great languages and can be used for lots of things. At one time there was talk of integrating them into a new language called 'P...

Re: Can not access Help files from program
Wonder if it's a new bug in 8.6? Well, I can still open the document manually.Paul Fierlinger wrote: Well, the same here. I was hoping you hadn't known about this and would find out how to make it work. No matter what I tried, I never got it to work either; went to Kinko's and never looked back (until now).

Re: Python scripting
Python is your scripting language of choice ! Everything you ask about (except of course TVPA internals access, which you'll get if we choose Python) is in the base python interpreter. And there are SOOOO many extensions available, you can do just about everything with it. Hey Eric -- I talked with...

Re: Can not access Help files from program
Beyond placing the manual.pdf file in the Data folder I don't have any other remedies. That's what worked for me. Only other thing I can think is that the HELP path is defined somewhere as being C:\Program Files\TvPaint Developpement\TVPaint Animation Pro\Data. Is this the path to your Data folder?...

Re: Python scripting
So, my vote is for Python or Ruby -- although leaning more towards Python because it's more well known. Latest Python version is 2.5.2 -- have you looked at that one? We are waiting for a 3.0 beta, it's already in alpha stage so it won't (shouldn't :) be too long a wait. Pyhton is also our best cho...

Re: Can not access Help files from program
Hmm. I think the "manual" installed with the software isn't actually the real manual, but rather a place-holder. Check the file size - the real manual .pdf file should be 40,216 kb (that's the downloaded TVPPro manual in English).... Sven Interesting info! I will check this out when I get...

Re: Tutorials
(If a program is so hard to grasp that only with a step-by-step tutorial I'm able to achieve small things, then it's not a good program.) One of the best manuals I ever used was the one for Freehand 4.0. It not only listed every possible function (as all manuals do), but it had a bunch of everyday ...

Re: Can not access Help files from program
I've seen this same problem, even after downloading the manual from the site. Don't remember if I ever figured out the issue... I just open the file directly with Acrobat and read it in my second monitor screen. A paper copy is a good idea, plus you have something you can take into the bathroom with...

Re: Python scripting
No way ! Perl code is so ugly looking that any non-computer guy will run away screaming !!! Perl is the only write-only language I know of. You can't read and understand it anymore a few days after you wrote it. There are certainly a few functional or declarative languages in this category too, but...

Re: Python scripting
I would like to see Perl used for scripting.... if george script allows for calls to command processor, probably already have capacity to execute perl scripts I wouldn't mind Perl either... however, depending on what the native language is that TVPaint is developed with, Perl can be more of pain to...
